Our 5R44E is now on sale. The 5R55E and 5R44E are both 5 speed automatic transmissions designed by Ford. The 5R44E was built for lighter duty applications and and 6 cyl engines and had a torque rating 10 ft lbs under its bigger brother the 5R55E. Throughout the years the 5R44E begin to develop somewhat of a black sheep status in the Ford series of transmissions. It had a few internal problems that could eventually lead to a transmission failure. The 5R44E was prone to issues with Solenoid failure, overheating and its Intermediate bands coming out of adjustment.
