The 4L85E was introduced in 2002 as a more heavy duty version of the 4L80E. It included a 5-pinion reaction gear-set and was designed for Jeeps, SUV’s and trucks up to 16,500 lbs. gross vehicle weight rating with engines up to 460 foot pounds. of torque and with a towing capacity up to 22,000 LBS.
