The T56 is a Tremec-built six-speed manual transmission designed for Mustangs with a 4.6L V8 engine. The T56 is commonly used in conversions because of its increased torque handling, but Ford limited its production of vehicles with this transmission to the 2003, 2004 Cobra, and SVT models. The Mustang T56 gear ratios are the following: 2.66 first, 1.78 second, 1.30 third, 1.0 fourth, 0.80 fifth, 0.62 sixth, and 2.90 reverse.

T45 or TR3650 conversion to T56 mustang transmission conversion

A T56 may be used to replace T45 or TR3650 transmissions in 97 and up Mustangs with a manual transmission. The T56 will handle more torque than these stock transmissions. To complete this conversion, you will need a shortened drive shaft, or you may shorten your own, a 27-spline yoke, and an upgraded cross member. Your vehicle must be 97 and UP and have a 4.6L engine.
